the songs, the words, the melodies in this album, they all matter to me because they represent the real time outworking of my own trauma, pain and discovery of joy and peace. but there is a life inside this record equally important to all of the above, which is also trying to be communicated. it’s almost like how listening to a song in a foreign language doesn’t hinder you from absorbing what the song is communicating. in listening closely as i expose myself to myself, that is where the art is. maybe every time we have the courage to unabashedly be true in ourselves, the courage to do the same is received by someone else.

dauwd returns to technicolour with -theory of colours - versions- ep. a new 4-tracker ep containing remixes/reworks of various singles from his debut album. the ep opens with a piano rework of analogische memories , recoded at his studio in berlin and the result of countless hours work - -it took some time, as i had to learn to play piano- dauwd explains. dauwd also makes up one third of the berlin collective, party and radio show, african acid is the future having previously released on kompakt and ghostly international. ukrainian music producer and leleka label boss vakula provides a remix of macadam therapy . fresh from the release of his well received lp -metaphors- and following on from last years -techno game- released via arma and -cyclicality between procyon and gomeisa- released via dekmantel in 2016. aaitf partner romain azzaro aka rouge mécanique provides two remixes of murmure (one -walking-, the other -running-) - -romain and i returned to the studio where i made much of the album in utrecht in the netherlands. we got to experiment again with many of the wonderful machines they had there, in particular the original roland system 700-.

echocord sub-label echo echo continues this july with orbite’s ‘interstellar’ ep, a threetracker from the berlin- based producer. orbite is a brand new project founded in berlin, germany with a nod towards the raw, dubby sounds often heard across the clubs in the city, and where better to inaugurate things than the recently launched sub-label of copenhagen’s echocord, one of the leading imprints in the realms of dub techno, home to pioneering acts like rod modell/deepchord, pole and fluxion who have paved the way for orbite’s own twist on the genre. the ethereal pad textures of ‘skylar’ lead on the package, deftly evolving alongside bubbling synth tones, swelling chords and shuffled percussion to create a create dynamically unfolding six and a half minute cut. ‘moment’ follows, edging things further into dubbed-out territories with heavily delayed dub echoes and mesmeric spoken word poetry intertwining to create a, hypnotic beatless soundscape. ‘organi’ closes the record with emotive, billowing pads, warm bell like tones and vocal murmurs running alongside swinging shakers and stripped-back micro-house percussion.

limited to 250 copies, next up in tartelet’s limited-edition series is renaissance man n.o.t.e. with “night frames” – a compilation of barrel-aged sounds for the warm nights ahead. n.o.t.e. is a new project by an already established artist who might be of swiss or italian origin, depending on who’s asking. a seasoned sailor of musical waters, he enjoys jazz piano, fine wine and silk linens. though none of that matters. the first release under his new name could be described as a mini concept album where different routes are explored, bringing n.o.t.e.’s musical diversity and capabilities to light. starting with “falsa laudis,” n.o.t.e. takes the listener back to the 80s with clear references to italian boogie and jazz-funk of that era. the track is warm, fat and sparkly, and best enjoyed with a cocktail in hand. following this is the title track “night frames” – a bruk-jazz escapade not shy of elaborate rhodes solos and filthy funk. the b-side opener moves further south: “obaleyako” is fueled by tropical energy, mixing african percussions with soft piano chords. it’s weird, mysterious and red hot! last but not least, n.o.t.e takes on the finest deep house sound with “en route,” where endless layered melodies and percussion form the farewell. this is an ultra limited-edition release of 250 copies (strictly no repress!), written and produced by n.o.t.e. and mixed at panalama studios in copenhagen on the neve 5088 shelford console for good measure. enjoy!

after the release on french label basse resolution and after a couple of years since his last ep on bosconi, having released with the -under the line- track one of the highlights of our latest 10 years compilation and as bss together with his mates fabio della torre and mass prod, rufus is back on bosconi with a new four tracker record which goes on a new direction compared to the past music he did. -ritual chants- was mainly recorded in the abandoned industrial area of milan called bovisa and probably for this reason the release sounds all around a bit sci fi, cinematic and especially gothic. all begins with the raw techno jam of -fast rituals- where structured mellow and dreamy synth lines combine with the dusty, aggressive and driving rhythmical transportation of its drum section. fast rituals is one of those electronic pieces which tells you a story from the beginning till the end, so please pay attention to it. -sapere sparare- looks calmer but actually has the more mental and psychotic feeling of the whole record, driven by an intoxicating and fat bass line, rough jazzy beats and a lot of twisted out fm synths goodness whose times are punctuated twice by the warning female vocal theme of the track. -last shot #5- instead is a jacked out, hypnotic and darker broken house track dense of pumping low ends and subtle but glorious synth riffs properly made for the late hours and totally in the vein of a baby ford - minimal man production.-tenebre- closes up the ep with its horror movie atmosphere, drilling drones here and there, big bouncy bass lines, reverberated snares, drama strings and a dominant sinister melody which slightly reminds of some old dbx track.

another much welcomed reissue of the late 70s funk laden, disco two tracker from splendor. the a side take me to your disco is emblematic of disco records from that golden era where big bands and big budgets were rife. yet theres an interplanetary twist to this one, with the mysterious, eerie, spacecraft sounding intro paving the way for a tale of extraterrestrials wanting to get down at one of planet earths discos. you can tell this came from an era were disco really was taking over flip it over and you ve got the mighty special lady. with philip bailey, of earth, wind and fire fame, on production his style comes through strong in the vocal arrangement with the level of feeling and power he squeezes out of each voice. a chance to add these two anthems to the collection!

psychedlic electronica on this new fututibile release (sublabel from periodica). icio omeghas psyco cruise is a collection of songs and private recordings made between 1984 and 1991 in his studio on the island of stromboli. icio omegha, formerly known as maurizio aghemo, is a guitarist, a sitarist and keyboard player who was a member of a world music band active in the late 70s (uco, universal condition orchestra). maurizio today is a record collector and painter who runs his art gallery in stromboli where he exhibits his works. currently engaged in the assembly of a modular system, he continues to produce experimental music on the island. over the years, he has explored various musical genres, from ethnic music with an indian flavor, up to the typical electronic digressions of the mid 80s. the only available source of these recordings are original cassette tapes from which futuribile made this selection. a small selection with pieces that best describe his artistic career. the audio was cleaned, re-mastered and edited to make the best possible presentation of these unique recordings of icio omegha who is finaly able to share them with the public. recommended!!!

the ppa duo outta london is back with another burning hot 7inch on gamm. just like on the first 7inch they go for two rare jazz-funk tracks where they not only rework the originals but also add their own instrumentation on top. song for you (by popcorn) got a real nice boogie funk feel and sounds like an early 80s production from the uk even though its actually a rare florida production. green machine is jazz-funk original by o donel levy but now re-tweaked and with vintage clavinet and percussion added over the original track. another ppa home run!

after previously releasing starship commander woooo woooos mastership lp, left ear records have continued excavating the archives of the artist more formally known as omer coleman jr. the result is two handpicked mid 80’s instrumentals salvaged from the original master tapes, as well as an extended vocal edit on the flip for good measure. after laying his alter ego to rest omer made a handful of electronic releases on his own kansas based remo label. of these releases left ear has selected their two favourite instrumentals: lovin babe sure is fun and so good. lovin babe sure is fun was originally released in 85 and was created to celebrate a time in america where the economy was good, people were happy and love was in the air, the essence of which omer captured using his roland 808 and 303 in what may best be described as acid-boogie. so good on the other hand is a sensual downtempo cut shaped with heavy-bass, telephone samples and guitar solos that conjures images of late night rendezvous and compromising scenarios.

2020 repress! 747’s paleo is an essential acid collection of eight diverse tracks, with a vinyl-exclusive d side. aquaregia’s first long playing release weaves through the different faces of acid on a time travelling trip through geological history. the journey begins with warm pads enveloping lush landscapes fringing the shallow, prehistoric seas where swarms of trilobites frenetically scurry, seeking to survive and evolve. roiling subaquatic vulcanism rules the b side, a seeding ground for exotic crystals whose hexagonal points vie for space as the magma cools and the minerals speciate. we’re then taken further into the depths, where planispiral ammonoids swim in the pseudo-antigravity of the saline seas. and finally, closing out the excursion, we’re transported from ages past, through the fleeting present into the future, to a warming ocean with disrupted ecosystems and unpredictable currents, the effect of a morphing climate.

the guys on this compilation are playful composers and appear to engage in various behaviors for sheer enjoyment, such as making waterslides and then sliding on them into the water. they may also find and play with small stones. their record is based on a myth where naya le loup shapeshift into beautiful women wearing stones-patterned clothing. if a human attempts to speak to him, he will answer nao and then answer copo, and if anybody asks him anything, he say cryptic things like blizzaga.

what should have been a quick process has taken a bit longer than we hoped, but thats the way of handcrafted products, be they ginger beer or sourdough bread, and like the bread, the vinyl is currently cooling down to ensure an undisturbed, top quality product. np004 contains two tracks, cunningly devised in yorkshire, reflecting the area s no nonsense attitude and warmth. the final touches of mastering, have been added once again by the highly trained ears of moog expert dr spaventi. this continues to give us a very important international dimension to what is still a local artisanal product. specially formulated to make you dance and give you something a little extra, we ve switched to stealth black paper sleeves for this release, and where cutting engineer failed with inscriptions, as can be their wont, we ve lovingly re-designed the label to incorporate details of the free gift we re providing

hoga nord rekords is finally releasing druk 11000! this 7inch is a collaboration between silverbullit, fontan and the bhutanese group aa yang - ensemble. the project took shape during a mythical trip to bhutan where the swedish composer and multi instrumentalist johan ‘the count’ westman who’s living in the country, hooked the altitude sick scandinavian musicians up with aa yang - ensemble. the local monks then blessed the musicians under mystical ceremonial procedures. with protection from the dragon of thunder, druk 11000 has produced some of the most powerful, loving and life embracing music yet to have been released on hoga nord rekords! the songs springs toward the top of gangkhar puensum, bhutans highest mountain, building a mighty storm, noticeable all the way to the scandinavian woodlands!

for the 12th installment of jose cabrera’s self-titled imprint, mario castillo appears under his long running kastil moniker to deliver a four track ep of mechanical dance floor sounds. with anemic lust, the resident of vitoria-gasteiz, comes up with a worthy addition to his rapidly growing discography. after a period of diy work through his own label stale, castillo returns to the imprint where he last released his collaboration album with j.c. in 2017.

perc trax is proud to launch its new various artists ep series dedicated to both showcasing artists that are new to the label and offering an outlet to release individual tracks quicker, without having to wait for a full ep to be completed and scheduled. these tracks have all been a key part of perc’s sets for the last few months and are a perfect indication of where the label is right now. this first volume offers up debut perc trax appearances from rebekah and john heckle’s head front panel project whilst welcoming back label regulars manni dee and scalameriya.

never released before on lp, here comes the complete original soundtracks of french cult film composer françois de roubaix for director yves boisset. two movies that embody the two sides of francois de roubaix’s approach to recording. for le saut de l’ange (1971), the self-taught composer wrote an orchestration for some fifty musicians playing strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion with two distinct solo instruments alternating the main theme: indian sitar on the one hand and accordion on the other. r.a.s (1973) was recorded on a 8-track tape recorder, in françois de roubaix’s home studio rue de courcelle, where most of his 70’s scores were recorded. the result is a mix of military-march rhythms, rolls on the snare-drum with sounds of synthi aks syntheziser: de roubaix invented a modern sound for this contemporary-history tragedy.

duat (pronounced do-aht) was the realm of the dead in ancient egyptian mythology. the deity osiris was believed to be the lord of the underworld since he personified rebirth and life after death, being the first mummy as depicted in the osiris myth. the underworld was also the resi-dence of various other gods along with osiris. the duat was the region through which the sun god re traveled from west to east each night, and it was where he battled apep, who embodied the primordial chaos which the sun had to defeat in order to rise each morning and bring order back to the earth. it was also the place where people’s souls went after death for judgement, though that was not the full extent of the afterlife. burial chambers formed touching-points be-tween the mundane world and the duat, and the akh, the effectiveness of the dead, could use tombs to travel back and forth from the duat.

attention: the case has a broken corner. ltd 180 copies - incl dl code , this cassette collects some of these stills, or better said freeze frames. freeze frames that become almost landscapes that one can enter or not, listen closely to or use as mere background ambience. wilson went in and untied the knot, yet while investigating the situation, posing more questions. this is as open-ended a release can get, so captiously simple. i met andrew wilson, (aka berko, art wilson, andras), a few months ago in tokyo where we were both to perform on a sort of balearic ambient variety show in the heart of shibuya. at some point andrew was telling me about his interest in youtube videos of truck accidents, animals attacking people and bloopers. with creating one-shot samples of these sort of popular fringe finds he started creating long-form drones of harmonic beauty, without being overtly and subjectively emotional. wilson presented some of these pieces on said night in tokyo, in a dandyesque manner all dressed in white, sitting behind a small restaurant table

for its third release, here to hell welcomes melbourne (via adelaide) veteran, rambl, and his incredible groover “doss”. this third release on the label happened purely by surprise, and what a discovery! the track itself is no accident, but the signing took place after a chance encounter. richard campbell aka rambl, who is one of melbourne’s best and most consistent djs since the last two decades, had developed a small cult following of viewers via facebook, where he had been providing live video coverage of australia’s wild weather in a kind of comedy-weatherman format. once these updates caught our attention, the magical facebook algorithm placed all of his content at the top of our feed.

the hardest working reggae band in southern england, dubheart is on a mission to spread messages of peace, love, unity and resistance through a heady stew of contemporary roots reggae, delivered on live instruments with a hefty dose of dub in the mix. cool under pressure, their latest offering, is the band’s most compelling set to date, a ‘showcase’-style album where every vocal track is followed by its dub counterpart, and the vital contribution of the brassica horns—from rising london ska band chainska brassica—is another intriguing element that makes this album tougher than the rest.

joe powers is from edinburgh, far outside the network of the grime capital of london. his caffeinated productions as proc fiskal are faster than usual, with many clocking in at 160bpm. ‘the highland mob’, his 2017 debut ep, opened up his music to open-eared footwork and drum’n’bass fans as well as the grime crowd. after following that up with a jungle-inflected ep on cosmic bridge, ‘insula’ switches the feel and intention towards a personal, and melodic music with one foot in grime, infused with often comic, often wistful recorded moments from his environment. he says ‘i wanted to be aware of where the music is coming from, referencing things i’m presently experiencing, like making grime, my radar radio show, phone addiction, alcohol, my surroundings, girls, depression, positivity, being unemployed, being employed and hating it, my friends etc. trying to be true to myself instead of relying on other peoples’ nostalgia, and focusing on now.’ the record is a huge leap in vision, with delicate, pointillist melodies and intricate edits reminiscent of grime producers such as terror danjah. it also resonates with japanese video game music like that recently explored on the ‘diggin in the carts’ compilation. ‘i think i probably make tunes to get out emotions i don’t express in day-to-day life. i used clips of my friends talking, drunk folk, and general scottish life to preserve and represent what my experience is like right now, like a time capsule. social media notification sounds are designed to release serotonin, which is what i’d like my music to do, to make me, and other people happy, and in using these manipulative noises in a positive way, i like to think i’m taking back the power of the manipulation.’ proc fiskal is adventurous and thoughtful as a producer, and at the young age of 21, his debut album is very advanced in its ideas and execution
